Hampshire is a fantastic destination for people who enjoy the great outdoors. Those interested in National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) are really spoilt for choice here. The majority of the New Forest is located in the county as well as a large piece of the South Downs and part of the North Wessex Downs. This means there is plenty of wonderful sites and natural environments to explore.
On top of this the county is home to a beautiful coastline along the Solent. There are large cities on the coast including Southampton and Portsmouth, towns like Gosport and Lymington, and smaller villages too. You can explore each of these and take in the number of beaches in the area. Southsea is one of the best and Calshot offers panoramic views.
With so many great natural sites to explore you have a fantastic opportunity to see a diverse selection of wildlife. Each of the National Parks and the AONB are habitats for many kinds of wildlife, including rare species. On top of this Hampshire is home to the North Solent and Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserves.
The area is also amazing if you like to be active. There are countless different activities you can choose from including cycling, hiking, sailing, canoeing, and even climbing. Whether you want something pulse racing or a more sedate activity you are well catered for here.
