With so much to do and the many great things to see, you are truly spoilt for choice when you decide to visit the region.
Found a mere 12 miles away in Romsey, Mottisfont Abbey and Garden is a romantic house that was originally a medieval Augustinian priory. To this day it retains the font from which its name is derived. The lovely old structure is just full of surprises and is framed by bubbling brooks, rolling lawns and walled gardens.
There’s an all-year art and events programme on offer, making it the perfect place to find something for both the children and yourselves. You can discover the history of the abbey and, by using the story map and spotter trail, your kids will be able to take part and find out about the mysteries of the property.
Another 12 miles away in Exbury lay the Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway, a fun packed family adventure just waiting to happen. Within the woodland garden’s 200 acres, you can expect to find strange and wondrous plants, as well as zigzag shaped paths to explore.
One thing you must do while you’re here is take a ride on the 20 minute long railway. It goes through the garden areas inaccessible by foot, giving you an even better experience. Special events such as the ghost train are in abundance here, so it’s well worth seeing what is on before your stay.
