Many of our guests choose to stay at our Hampshire bed and breakfast to enjoy a walking holiday, taking in the many wonderful walking trails the New Forest has to offer. However, there is a time each year where walking enthusiasts can enjoy a different experience. The Isle Of Wight Walking Festival is an event which usually marks the point where spring starts to move into summer, and it is highly anticipated by walkers from across the UK.
2016 will see the 18th Festival take place, and with each passing year it has grown both in terms of scope and popularity. From the 30th of April to the 15th of May this year a whole series of walks are mapped out and prepared across the Isle of Wight, with walking routes measured and graded on a scale from easy to strenuous. Whether you are someone who just enjoys a stroll in order to admire the beauty around them, or if you’re a seasoned walker who likes to face a physical challenge, this festival has something for everyone.
If you are planning to take part in the Festival, you will need a comfortable place to stay. We are always happy to welcome guests that have elected to stay on the mainland as they make their way to or from Yarmouth to attend, and many make us their temporary home on both legs of the journey.
Most people who travel from mainland England to the Isle of Wight prefer to do so from our location. Lymington offers a short and pleasant ferry trip, with the journey being around 40 minutes. During the warmer months of the year, ferries run from 5:30 in the morning until 10pm. This makes staying with us absolutely perfect for those who want to take part in one of the days of the Walking Festival but would prefer to spend the night back on the mainland.
