If you have ever wished to experience what things were like during the olden times, then a trip to Buckler’s Hard may do you some good. Here, you can discover how everyone worked and lived in a shipbuilding village during the 18th century. In fact, this same village was home to those ships constructed for Nelson’s Fleet at Trafalgar.
Even today, the settlement is unspoilt by time and still manages to thrive. As you take a journey along the local Woodland Walk, you’ll have the opportunity to find out how the local timber was utilised in the 18th and 19th centuries to make ships for our navy.
While you are here pay a visit to the Maritime Museum in order to learn about the village’s remarkable story. It brings those who lived here at the same time to life, including Master Shipbuilder Henry Adams. The historic displays found in the Shipwright’s and Labourer’s cottages shall show you how the place would have appeared back then. If you decide to go to the New Inn, inhabitants from the time will be found gossiping over local matters.
Harvest House bed and breakfast in the New Forest is situated in an acre of grounds that are relatively secluded. This means comfort and peace for our guests. During your stay you can make full use of the gardens and the private lounge inside. We work hard to make sure everybody is comfortable and feels at home.
